Transformers
Making recycling a learning experience.
01 / Context
The problem
Recycling guidance can be difficult to translate into everyday decisions. The research explored interactive learning and gamification as ways to support engagement.
02 / Response
The product response
A web research prototype combining learning activities, reward logic, and engagement tracking. The published paper describes quizzes, sorting activities, and progress feedback.
03 / Contribution
My role
Research Assistant & Lead Developer at Rhine-Waal University, September 2023–May 2025. Research prototype development and Python-based analysis, documented in the CV.
04 / Architecture
How the pieces connect
- 01Interactive learning activities
- 02Node.js event and reward logic
- 03Firebase engagement data
- 04Python research analysis
05 / Execution
The engineering challenge
Connecting participant interactions to research data while keeping the learning experience coherent.
06 / Result
Outcomes & perspective
A public ECGBL paper was published on 26 September 2025. It establishes the research context; this portfolio does not claim a quantified improvement in recycling behavior.
07 / Reflection
A lesson from the work
A research prototype must support both its participants and the questions researchers want to investigate.
08 / Evidence
Evidence & scope
Sources: August 2026 CV and the ECGBL publication. The paper describes AI personalization as future work, not a shipped feature.
